International Women\u2019s Day: Exploring Women\u2019s Oppression and Building Class Unity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Event Details:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Location: Working Class Movement Library Annex Building, 51 Crescent, Salford M5 4WX<\/p>\n\n\n\n Date: Sunday 22 March 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Time: 2.00pm \u2013 5.00pm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Programme: Speakers, workshops, music, archive displays, refreshments, and prize raffle<\/p>\n\n\n\n Join us to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day as we bring together trade unionists, community activists, and historians to explore women\u2019s oppression and the power of collective action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event will feature leading voices from the women\u2019s movement, trade unions and academics alongside workshops, music, refreshments and access to archival materials from the Library\u2019s collection. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss, learn, and shape practical strategies that can be taken back to workplaces, communities, and homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A highlight of the day will be the unveiling of a specially commissioned banner celebrating the life and dedication of trade union activist Jane Loftus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Hazel Roberts, WCML Trustee, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018International Women\u2019s Day has always been rooted in struggles for equality and workers\u2019 rights. This year, we reflect on women\u2019s historical and contemporary challenges, showing how solidarity and collective action make women a driving force for change.
