Hazards Conference 2023
Organising for Safe and Healthy Working Environments
This year’s Hazard conference was a huge success. We had various talks and workshops on issues ranging from long COVID, sex and gender, and the occupational health crisis. With speeches from special guests including Sarah Woolley General Secretary of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers’ Union, Shelly Asquith Health, Safety & Wellbeing Officer at the TUC, and Liam O’Brien Assistant Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. You can read the full report of the conference here.
We conducted a COVID Workers Inquiry, where we discussed the issues that have arisen during the pandemic. You can watch this session below.
We also gave awards to the various amazing health and safety campaigns by various unions, and organisations across the movement. Including awards given to the Get Me Home Safely campaign led by UNITE hospitality, the MeTU campaign against sexual harassment and violence within the Trade Union Movement, and the Fire Brigades Union’s DeCon campaign against cancer-causing chemicals and hazardous substances.
