Accident Books at Work

North West Safety Reps reported that Accident Books in workplaces are often forgotten about, under-used or completely ignored. Accident books are a legal requirement if there are 10 or more employees on site. The requirement falls under the Social Security (Claims and Payments) Regulations 1979. Some workplaces prefer an electronic version while some opt for the traditional hard copy. Either way, it must be accessible to employees, used for recording accidents/ personal injuries at work and be kept for at least three years. Due to potential claims or for insurance purposes some employers keep them for longer and are protected under GDPR regulations. Download our free leaflet Act Now on Accident Books.
